Its on TV, It Must Be True
Let’s lose 30 pounds in 30 days! Take off the weight without the effort! Eat anything you like, and you can still lose weight!
Everywhere you happen to look – magazine covers, radio, print ads, TV infomercials, the internet – headlines like the ones above, promoting the latest and ‘greatest’ weight loss sensation, abound. They are nearly impossible to avoid. Whether it is for the latest diet craze, number of magic pills, or infomercial gadget, we are dutified with a large daily dose of weight-loss-made-easy promises. And these nonsensical ads obviously work, as the American Obesity Association approximates that American consumers spend over $30 billion dollars per year trying to lose weight.
